James 3:13-18
God’s wisdom vs. Satan’s foolishness
(Memory verse: Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3:18)

Study 6 of 9

Time To Focus
What does wisdom mean?

Time to Study
Read James 3:13-18
Wisdom isn’t just head knowledge. According to James 3:13, what does wisdom cause you to do?

According to James 3: 14-15, what attitudes are opposite from true wisdom?

True wisdom comes from God and causes us to live a holy life. To everything that is true and good, there is a counterfeit. Our world is filled with so-called heroes that are not acting with wisdom, but are filled with Satan’s counterfeit: foolishness. They look like they have it together, but in reality, they are hurting. You don’t have to think very hard to think of music stars that have either overdosed on drugs, committed suicide, or gotten themselves shot and killed, all because of a foolish non-Christ centered life-style. It looks good on the surface, but eventually kills! Unfortunately, many teenagers admire and fall for these destructive behaviors and attitudes, even though they result pain, suffering, and even death. (Review James 1:13-15 for how this cycle goes)

In the space below, contrast God’s true wisdom and Satan’s foolishness.

      God’s wisdom.....................................Satan’s foolishness
      (True wisdom)....................................... (False wisdom)

Time to Do
List foolish attitudes in your life that you need to get rid of.

Now, pray that God will remove these from your life, and change these.

From these verses, what actions and attitudes do you need.
